Unbound was formerly known as Christian Foundation for Children and Aging (CFCA). When I was ministering at St. Margaret Mary in Neenah, I chose to support a child with special needs, in honor of the special needs son, Greg W., of one of my best friends. I was able to be a source of support to Efrain G. for almost twenty years. He was left on the side of a road where he would be found, when he was only a baby. He was blind and deaf, and no doubt his parents did not feel they could care for him. Efrain was an example of true poverty to me, because CFCA had to make up a name and a birthdate for him, because he came to them with neither.
Efrain was taken to Acrinave, Asoc. Civil Crt. – Proyecto Barquisimeto, in Venezuela. There he was cared for by the staff and volunteers. Special needs children and elderly persons were residents at the Project. In 2016 I could no longer serve as a sponsor for Efrain, because Unbound had no way of getting the local currency to the project for Efrain's expenses.

At this time I am getting to know Delia M., a 72 year old retired seamstress who is widowed and has two children, and lives in the Philippines. She writes to me in English and has requested my prayers for “good health and a peaceful community,” which I found very moving. Delia is active in her parish community and I am happy to be serving as her sponsor.
If you are interested in more information about Unbound, or if you would like to become involved with a sponsorship, you can find more online at Unbound.org Serving as a sponsor is a rewarding experience, because it expands your world and a person from another country and culture becomes “real” to you.
